Barack Obama like so many others rightfully pilloried his predecessor during in the wake of Hurricane Katrina’s destruction in August 2005. For so many reasons W’s response was sub-feeble from “Your doin’ a hecka of a job Brownie” to his pathetic flyover of the Gulf Coast. Bush showed know compassion or understanding of the scope and scale of what had happened to countless residents of New Orleans and points west.
Fast forward to May 2011 and we see a near carbon copy of the post-Katrina disgrace but only now it is Obama committing the myriad gaffes. Instead of flying home immediately he decided to be wined and dined by the most out-of-touch family in the world and their newlywed’s Kate and William. However, in this instance with the Liberal Industrial Complex complicit and cheerleading his every utterance and admittedly humorous jokes about the questioning of his birth certificate we have no one willing to say what is really going on within the institutional left (sans Nader, Feingold, etc) or right (sans Ron (NOT RAND!) Paul and David Stockman). It is a plutocracy on both sides feeling absolutely no short- or long-term need to explain themselves. Obama’s inability to see how similar the path is that he is treading relative to W is either ignorance or bliss. Judging by the ease and certainty with which he travels and ignores those that need assistance it is the latter and that is a shame to all his willing or skeptical supporters. Count me once as one of the skeptical but no more! Barack Obama has morphed into that which he so willingly critiqued from the safety of his senate seat.
